Troubleshooting Your Plated Foodservice Terminal (Video)

How to Reset the Terminal Configuration If your Plated terminal is unresponsive, displaying errors, or behaving unexpectedly, resetting the terminal configuration will restore it to its default operating state.

Reset steps:

Step 1: Locate the Plated logo in the top left corner of the terminal screen. Tap the logo 5 times in quick succession to access the administrative menu.

Step 2: Tap "Reset Terminal Configuration." This will initiate the reset sequence.
Once the reset is complete, follow the on-screen prompts to finish reconfiguration. Do not power off the terminal during this process.

When to Escalate If the terminal reset does not resolve the issue, it may indicate a deeper configuration or hardware problem.

Have the following ready for support:
  1. Facility name and location.
  2. Terminal Serial Number (usually on a sticker on the bottom of the unit).
  3. A description of the issue and the last action taken before the problem occurred.

Power and Connectivity Issues

The most common problems are often the simplest. If the terminal is "dead" or won't sync orders, check these first.

  • Terminal won't turn on: * Verify the power cable is seated firmly in both the terminal and the wall outlet.

    • Check if the outlet has power (try plugging in another device).

    • If using a battery-powered mobile unit, ensure it has been docked for at least 20 minutes.

  • "Offline" or "Network Error" status:

    • Check your router or switch for green blinking lights.

    • Toggle Wi-Fi: Turn the terminal's Wi-Fi off and back on in the system settings.

    • Restart: A simple reboot often clears cached network conflicts.

When to Escalate

If you have performed a Hard Reset (holding the power button for 10 seconds) and the issue persists, it may be a hardware failure.

Have the following ready for support:

  1. Terminal Serial Number (usually on a sticker on the bottom).

  2. Specific Error Code (e.g., "Error 404" or "API Timeout").

  3. The last action taken before the failure occurred.
